infection. HSV-1 (strain I7) was treated with ViroSAL for 2 minutes, the pH restored to 7, and used to infect Vero cells. Control virus was treated with a pH5.5 buffer for 2 minutes and the pH restored to 7. After 24 hours, cells were fixed and stained with an antibody to detect HSV gD glycoprotein. (B) Measles, EBV or orf virus was treated with VIROSAL for 2 minutes, the pH restored to 7, and used to infect Vero, primary tonsil epithelial cells or primary foetal lamb skin cells, respectively. Control virus was treated with a pH5.5 buffer for 2 minutes and the pH restored to 7. After 48 hours, viral infectivity was enumerated. Data are presented as % neutralization of infection relative to the untreated virus control. Murine norovirus was treated with ViroSAL for 2 minutes, the pH restored to 7, and used to infect either RAW264.7 murine macrophages or BV2 murine microglial cells.
