These studies led to discovery of a regulatory axis between thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP) and an antisense lncRNA, Gm15441. TXNIP acts as a critical relay linking oxidative and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress to inflammation through NLRP3 inflammasome activation (Anthony and Wek, 2012; Oslowski et al., 2012) .
