In this study, a carboxyl polymer-coated MNPs, namely pcMNPs, was developed and a simple but efficient viral RNA extraction system was established for sensitive detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA via RT-PCR. As compared with traditional column-based nucleic acids extraction methods, our pcMNPs-based method has several advantages ( Table 2) .
