Document: We hope that the predictions of our model can assist public health officials in crafting policies to lessen the severity of the pandemic, to inform the public on the potential outcomes of the pandemic, and to serve as an impetus for those who are skeptical of following evidence-based social distancing guidelines. Importantly, we stress that the results presented in this work are estimates that are based upon a simplistic mathematical model which relies on imperfect and incomplete data. A more comprehensive mathematical analysis of the pandemic would require a significantly more complex model and a larger set of data to determine key disease parameters. Therefore, the results should be interpreted qualitatively as an educated estimate of what is possible given different levels of public adherence to social-distancing guidelines.
