In addition, a new study showed an association between fine particulate matter levels and COVID-19 related deaths in the US by demonstrating that an increase of 1 µg/m 3 of these particulate matter led to an increase of 15% of COVID-19 death rates 6 . Notably, these findings are in line with studies conducted on the previous SARS outbreak, where long-term exposure to air pollutants had a detrimental effect on the prognosis of SARS patients in China 12 .
