A Scalable Method of Applying Heat and Humidity for Decontamination of N95 Respirators During the COVID-19 Crisis

Each fit test sequence takes approximately two minutes and 30 seconds. For these tests each mask was punctured and fitted with a metal hose adapter to connect to the PortaCount via 3/16" ID tubing. Prior to starting each fit test measurement, the user donned the mask and performed a qualitative user seal check to confirm that there were no detectable air leaks when forcefully exhaling. The user then made small adjustments to the fit of the mask based on the results of this seal check. After each fit test measurement the user doffed the mask to simulate the wear and tear produced through donning and doffing masks.
