Document: SARS-Cov-2 transmission is expected to continue over the coming months and affect virtually every locality in the U.S. The central aim of our analyses is to identify counties that consistently emerge as being likely to experience a relatively large burden of disease (across a range of assumptions about transmission) on their population and healthcare systems to inform and urge both preparedness and the allocation of emergency medical resources. We identified several regions in need of support, including much of the western portion of the country, the northern Midwest, Florida, and northern New England. At a finer geographical scale, our results suggest considerable rural-urban inequity, with the per capita burden of disease being highest away from major population centers.
