Each patient was designed based on information from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) in the week prior to 1 April, which identified cough, chills and fever as the three most frequently reported symptoms as of 26 March (1), cough, headache and chills as the three most frequently reported symptoms from 27-30 March (2) (3) (4) (5) , and cough, headache and general weakness thereafter. (6) Since it is unlikely and perhaps unreasonable to expect provinces to update screening tools daily, we used cough, chills and headache in the construction of our prototypical patients.
