It is argued that combination prevention that integrates clinical medicine and social psychology is central to achieving the zero-infections target by 2030. In particular, it is argued that psychological wellbeing among HIV patients must become one of our targets given its centrality as both an HIV outcome and as a predictor of effective HIV prevention. The uncertain landscape of HIV prevention and treatment is acknowledged in view of the COVID-19 outbreak in the United Kingdom and the social, economic and psychological challenges that this has brought about.
