Girls gone wild: Social isolation induces hyperactivity and exploration in aged female mice

Activity during other behavioral tasks was recorded by a digital camera and activity levels were analyzed using the SMART video-tracking system (Panlab, RRID: SCR_002852) software. Independent samples t-tests (2-tailed) were conducted for all behavioral tasks. All behavioral statistical analyses were conducted using SPSS 26 (RRID: SCR_002865) by an experimenter blind to experimental condition. A value of p < .05 was considered significant, with figures depicting the mean ± standard error of the mean (SEM). All procedures were approved by Baylor University's Institutional Care and Use Committee and conducted in accordance with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals from the National Institutes of Health.
