However, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, social work students in field placement suffered an unprecedented level of unplanned premature termination experiences. This teaching note describes the experiences of undergraduate students who, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, were obliged to prematurely terminate their field placements and client relationships. The author shares lessons learned from the experience, including content and assignment suggestions, along with recommendations for future research regarding termination of the social work process.
