Some important biomarkers of infection or critical illness including NLR, SII, procalcitonin, and D-dimer, were found to be associated with clinical outcome and disease severity. However, none of them were identified as independent predictors. The findings of this study suggested that CRP performed better than other three parameters in predicting adverse outcome in patients with COVID-19. Besides, admission serum CRP level was identified as a moderate discriminator of disease severity. To our knowledge, this study presented the first report about the prognostic value of CRP in patients with COVID-19.
