Snippet: At present, information systems generate large amounts of data that are used for decision-making. Profiles are required in data science that implement detailed analysis and expose the results. To meet the requirements as a data scientist, it is necessary to cover various aspects, algorithm development, knowledge in exact sciences and application of data manipulation tools. Document: At present, information systems generate large amounts of data that are used for decision-making. Profiles are required in data science that implement detailed analysis and expose the results. To meet the requirements as a data scientist, it is necessary to cover various aspects, algorithm development, knowledge in exact sciences and application of data manipulation tools. The demand for professionals in the data science area is not being met. This article presents a case study of COVID-19 Mexico in a procedural way. The knowledge that must be taken into account before carrying out the analysis of the information is described, such as types of databases, programming languages, computational capacity, knowledge in networks, data mining, methodologies, architectures of development, services. The problem is that information platforms are created and these lack documentation in the applied methodology, which means that the researcher who does not have a computing profile cannot access data sets for analysis. © 2021 IEEE.
