Rapid evidence summary on SARS-CoV-2 survivorship and disinfection, and a reusable PPE protocol using a double-hit process

A wide variety of disinfection methods for PPE have been examined and reported in the literature. These can be characterized as either 1) energetic methods (e.g. ultraviolet, dry and wet heat, and microwave generated steam), or 2) chemical methods (e.g. alcohol, ethylene oxide, bleach, and vapourized hydrogen peroxide). Some of these rapidly and significantly affect N95 filter performance (alcohol 17 ), and others require chemical supplies and specialized facilities (e.g. ethylene oxide, vapourized hydrogen peroxide), or are not readily scalable to large numbers of PPE (e.g. microwave generated steam). We focus here on methods that may be easier to implement at a useful scale.
