At day six post-treatment, 100% of patients treated with HCQ and azithromycin combination had been virologically cured compared to 57.1% in patients treated with only HCQ and 12.5% in control group. 21 Contraindications and relative contraindications include NOT to use CQ in people below 18 years and above 65 years, pregnant women, persons allergic to 4-aminoquinoline, patients with hematological disorders or G6PD deficiency, patients with chronic liver or kidney disease, patients with arrhythmia and chronic heart disease, patients with a history of retinal disease or hearing loss, patients known to have a mental illness, Skin diseases like a rash, dermatitis, psoriasis. CQ is known to have drug interactions with various drugs, and expert medical opinion, regarding its interaction with the medicines already taken by patients, is a MUST.
