(2020) Two mechanisms for accelerated diffusion of COVID-19 outbreaks in regions with high intensity of population and polluting industrialization: the air pollution-to-human and human-to-human transmission dynamics Tables 5-6 show results considering categorization of cities per density of population/km 2. . Results reveal that average number of infected individuals increases with average density of people/km 2 , but with an arithmetic growth, in comparison to geometric growth of number of infected individuals with other categorizations of cities. These findings suggest that density of population per km 2 is important for transmission dynamics but other factors may support acceleration of viral infectivity by COVID-19 rather than high probability of interpersonal contacts in cities.
