Title: Altered polarization of PAR-2 signaling during airway epithelial remodeling Document date: 2020_1_9
ID: 8iet67u3_44
Snippet: Prior literature on PAR-2 in the airway has focused on increased PAR-2 expression in inflamed airway mucosa. 2, 48, 54 However, we show that an important overlooked consideration is the polarity of PAR-2, which can change in the absence of PAR-2 expression level changes. This may represent a novel mechanism by which the airway epithelium can be "sensitized" to apical exposure to inspired/inhaled proteases such as dust mite or Alternaria proteases.....
Document: Prior literature on PAR-2 in the airway has focused on increased PAR-2 expression in inflamed airway mucosa. 2, 48, 54 However, we show that an important overlooked consideration is the polarity of PAR-2, which can change in the absence of PAR-2 expression level changes. This may represent a novel mechanism by which the airway epithelium can be "sensitized" to apical exposure to inspired/inhaled proteases such as dust mite or Alternaria proteases. This may contribute to the pathogenesis of inflammatory airway diseases. We also confirm previous observations that PAR-2 is a player in detection of A. fumigatus.
