Optimal timing for social distancing vs t I for the three different types of optimal timing investigated, and corresponding to R 0 = 2. With γ = 1/10, T = 30, r = 0.55, I(0) = 0.01%. Note that the curves for "maximum peak delay" and "maximum peak reduction" are overlaid.
