Innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) are predominantly tissue-resident, and accumulating data indicate that they have significant tissue-specific functions. We summarize current knowledge of ILC phenotypes in various tissues in mice and humans, aiming to clarify ILC immunity in distinct anatomical locations.
