Analysing and comparing the COVID-19 data: The closed cases of Hubei and South Korea, the dark March in Europe, the beginning of the outbreak in South America

We hope, the analysis presented in this paper, based on the joint use of the α factor, the graphical representations of the oscillating fitting parameters, and the recovery cases over confirmed cases ratio, will contribute to the study of the effectiveness of the methods employed by different local authorities in containing epidemics, as well as to the study of the readiness with which such methods must be activated. By analysing more closely the Italian case, looking at the spreading of COVID-19 in different Italian regions, we have shown how, even inside the borders of a country, epidemics may develop in different ways. The analysis done can be helpful in aiding national health authorities in planning and spending resources appropriately in different regions under their jurisdiction.
