Snippet: We found that minor deviations in flow rate had no noticeable effect on the efficiency measure. Every two minutes the particle counter inlet was switched between the mask port (post-filtration) and a box port (unfiltered background air in the box), and the ratios of the total particle counts were used to calculate the filtration efficiency. The data were transmitted via USB serial link and stored to file on a local computer. This computer system .....
Document: We found that minor deviations in flow rate had no noticeable effect on the efficiency measure. Every two minutes the particle counter inlet was switched between the mask port (post-filtration) and a box port (unfiltered background air in the box), and the ratios of the total particle counts were used to calculate the filtration efficiency. The data were transmitted via USB serial link and stored to file on a local computer. This computer system both collected data from the particle counter and controlled the device via custom-built software in C#, adapted from software developed for monitoring air quality in the aforementioned clean lab 8 .
