We tested P-BEST using four sets of 384 samples, each containing an increasing number of positive carriers ranging from two to five. We found that P-BEST was able to correctly identify all positive carriers within these four sets of 384 samples using only 48 tests per set, providing an 8-fold increase in testing efficiency. Simulations demonstrated that the method can correctly identify up to 5/384 (1.3%) of carriers, with an average number of false positives that was less than 2.75, and an average number of false negatives that was less than 0.33.
