In the contact model, these places also had higher intracity and intercity R0 values (i.e. bigger cities are more densely populated and more well connected) (Table S2) , further increasing the speed of the spread. Similarly, higher travel volume during the Lunar New Year increased the spread of the virus at the initial stage compared to regular days in both models.
