    Document: To detect the expression of C5aR in lung tissue, lung samples were harvested and total RNA was extracted and purified using an RNeasy Extraction Kit (Qiagen, Germany). For each sample, 2 μg of total RNA was used as template for first-strand cDNA synthesis. The resulting cDNA was subjected to quantitative PCR using Power SYBR ® Green PCR Master Mix (Life Technologies, Carlsbad, CA, USA) to determine the relative abundance of C5aR in the tissues. The forward and reverse primers used for C5aR were previously described 26 . The relative amount of C5aR was determined by normalizing mRNA expression to that of the endogenous control gene GAPDH.
