Treatment with U0126, an inhibitor of ERK1/2 activation, strongly inhibited SRA protein in PMA-stimulated THP-1 cells ( Figure 5A ). We found that U0126 completely inhibited the attachment of cells into the culture plate and thus blocked the uptake of acetyl LDL (data not shown). SRA protein synthesis in PMA-differentiated THP-1 cells was suppressed at 100 μg/ml of CWE ( Figure 5B ). CWE also inhibited PMA-stimulated ERK1/2 activation but in a concentration-independent manner ( Figure 5D ).
