Document: The generation of high producer cell lines has been dramatically improved and accelerated (161, 173) , however it is still too expensive, time-consuming and laborious for research applications, or if large numbers of individual antibodies have to be produced. Here, transient and semi-stable mammalian antibody expression is much more suitable because it allows fast and parallelized production without any need to generate producer cell lines (174) . Moreover, transient mammalian antibody production can be scaled up by employing batch or fed-batch bioreactor processes to more than 150 L production volumes (175) . Therefore, transient antibody production is suitable for small-scale production in antibody screening (176) , but also capable to generate grams of antibodies (177) (178) (179) .
