The list of data needs we have outlined above, based on our experience during the Ebola epidemic, could serve as a basis for data collection in future outbreaks. Here we outline improvements that could be made to streamline data collection, minimize delays between data collection and data dissemination, and improve data quality during future outbreaks. All of these are necessary for timely analysis to inform the response in real time. We consider this particularly for line-list and exposure data.
