Hind paws, fore paws, and knees were embedded and sectioned in the frontal plane. Six joints from each animal were processed for histopathologic evaluation. The joints were then assessed for inflammation (0-5 scale), pannus formation (0-5 scale), cartilage damage (0-5 scale), bone resorption (0-5 scale), and periosteal new bone formation (0-5 scale). A summed histopathology score was also determined (sum of five parameters).
