At the same time, the natural resource base for food production is increasingly threatened (Figure 3 ; arrow 12). Finally conflicts are, of course, a threat to food security and it is expected that food security in sub-Saharan Africa, for example, will not increase without the establishment of political instability (Figure 3 ; arrow 11) [64] .
