The viral RNA was extracted using the magnetic particle processor procedure (MagMAXâ„¢ Viral RNA Isolation Kit, Applied Biosystems, USA) and subsequently tested using the procedure provided by the USDA-NVSL for detection of influenza A virus Matrix gene by RT-PCR [38] . The minimum detection limit of influenza virus by this method is 10 1 TCID 50 /mL.
