All the patients with influenza were not given antiinfluenza agents, but approximately half of them (37/ 79; 46.8%) received an antibacterial agent (mainly 2nd/3rd-generation cephalosporin or amoxicillin). None of the patients died, and all the patients who either received an appropriate or inappropriate antibiotic had recovered completely from their illnesses at the time of discharge.
