The cat population included in this analysis was made up of felines living in Vienna and eastern Austria. FeLV antigenaemia was determined to be 7.4% in 1996 compared with 5.9% in 2008-2011. The difference between the two periods was not statistically significant at the 5% level (P = 0.3036). The majority (82%) of FeLV antigenaemic cats were aged ⩽5 years.
