However, public health orders from the Bay Area jurisdictions served by our clinical lab called for reporting of all COVID-19 test results (not just positives). These same orders by local public health authorities further specified that electronic transmission of results to the CalREDIE system fulfilled reporting requirements to them, obviating the need to report directly to Bay Area local health authorities for COVID-19 testing. CDPH uses CalREDIE to then report on state-level statistics to the CDC. In phase two of the LIMS implementation, the physician access portal will provide results in PDF format to the requisitioning physician, integrate with provider electronic medical record systems like EPIC, and return CDPH reports to CalREDIE via an HL7 interface instead of .csv.
