Unlike other type of stressors, infectious stress is not easy to control and often causes long-term economic loss. Once there is an outbreak, transmission within and between the batches of animals occurs very fast because most modern animal farms have adopted intensive rearing system. At the same time, it is difficult to clear the pathogens completely from the site and region of the outbreak without a mass slaughter operation.
