Document: TEST. Melanie Hezzell 1 , John Rush 2 , Elizabeth Rozanski 2 , Suzanne Cunningham 2 , Mark Oyama 1 . 1 University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, USA, 2 Tufts University, Massachusetts, USA Measurement of NT-proBNP in plasma and pleural fluid samples using a traditional ELISA has previously been shown to differentiate cardiac and non-cardiac causes of pleural effusion in feline patients. In emergent patients, rapid results obtained using a point-of-care test could be of significant clinical benefit. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether use of a pointof-care NT-proBNP test in plasma and pleural fluid samples would have similar utility to the traditional ELISA.
