Each kitten was inoculated SQ with the inactivated FIV vaccine on Weeks 0 and 4; sera were collected and stored at -80C multiple times after vaccination. The kittens were boosted on either Week 35 (11 cats) or 27 (eight cats) and sera were collected 1, 2, or 3 weeks after inoculation and stored at -80C. The samples were thawed and assayed for FIV antibodies and FeLV antigen using the commercially available kit (Witness Ã’ FeLV-FIV, Zoetis) following the manufacturer's recommendations.
