Snippet: Fecal samples were collected from healthy dogs (n = 13) and dogs with chronic enteropathy (n = 13) with biopsy-confirmed inflammation. Sterols in lyophilized feces were subjected to trimethylsilyl ether derivatization and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) operating in Single Ion Monitoring (SIM) mode. Target analytes included cholesterol, cholestanol, b-sitosterol, sitostanol, fucosterol, stigmaterol, and campesterol. Fecal.....
Document: Fecal samples were collected from healthy dogs (n = 13) and dogs with chronic enteropathy (n = 13) with biopsy-confirmed inflammation. Sterols in lyophilized feces were subjected to trimethylsilyl ether derivatization and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) operating in Single Ion Monitoring (SIM) mode. Target analytes included cholesterol, cholestanol, b-sitosterol, sitostanol, fucosterol, stigmaterol, and campesterol. Fecal concentrations of sterols were expressed as lg/mg of lyophilized feces. A Mann-Whitney U test was used for comparison between animal groups with statistical significance set at P < 0.05.
