Document: Microbiota and SCFA profiles revealed changes associated with diet and BCS. Microbiota diversity and species richness alterations were noted. Acetic and butyric acid production was significantly different between obese and lean cats. Diet and BCS had significant interaction in the statistical model for remaining SCFA. On post-hoc analysis, isobutyric, valeric and isovaleric acids were significantly different between obese and lean cats on the maintenance diet. Valeric and isovaleric were different between the M-diet and WL-diet in obese cats.
