Snippet: There were few changes in the relative abundance of different taxonomic groups at higher taxonomic levels. At the phylum level horses had significantly less Cyanobacteria after fasting (P = 0.012) and anesthesia (P = 0.012) than baseline. There were more changes at lower taxonomic levels. Most notably the order Clostridiales was decreased after anesthesia (P = 0.003). Alpha diversity was not significantly different between time points (all P > 0......
Document: There were few changes in the relative abundance of different taxonomic groups at higher taxonomic levels. At the phylum level horses had significantly less Cyanobacteria after fasting (P = 0.012) and anesthesia (P = 0.012) than baseline. There were more changes at lower taxonomic levels. Most notably the order Clostridiales was decreased after anesthesia (P = 0.003). Alpha diversity was not significantly different between time points (all P > 0.21). When parsimony analysis was applied, anesthesia had a significant effect on both community membership (Jacquard index P = 0.02) and community structure (Yue & Clayton index P = 0.02).
