In the remaining 101 dogs (80%), fine-needle aspiration of the spleen did not change the management of the case. Those include patients with extramedullary hematopoiesis (n = 79), lymphoid reactivity/hyperplasia (n = 11), normal spleen (n = 9), hyperplastic nodule (n = 1), and non-diagnostic sample (n = 1).
