The median age of the affected dogs was 13 years (range 5-18), with six castrated males, 2 intact females, 2 spayed females and 1 intact male. The median survival time was 30 days (range 1-670 days). All dogs received supplemental oxygen during initial evaluation. Eight dogs were treated with sildenafil (median 1.5 mg/kg q 8-12 hours; range 1-3 mg/kg); four dogs also received pimobendan and clopidogrel.
